I go on fastweb.com and I don’t think they have a very large selection. When I was in high school (soph in college now) they told us there were scholarships for people with green eyes, freckles etc. Where are these? I will write but I just wish that these weren’t so complicated. Thanks and thanks so much!
try broadening your search or your personal infromation on fastweb. even if you aren’t planning on majoring in some areas of have interest in them, you may can find some more scholarships that way. i have actually found a scholarship that they gave out for being left handed (even though im not i just found it)… they had a scholarship on there ofr having asthma, and there is another scholarship thing on there called brickfish that always has some of the easiest ones like sending in a pic of your fav time of the year, fav toy, fav pairs of shoes.. i get those kinds all the time. i dont know how but i get em and you can enter a pic more than once to incease your chances
With thousands of scholarships available, the task of finding all of the scholarships that apply to you can be quite troublesome. Luckily, there are several ways you can go about efficiently finding all of the scholarships that apply to you. Remember that scholarships are basically free money and the more of them you get, the less funding you’ll need to find.
1. Financial Aid Office
The most obvious first place to start looking is the financial aid office of the school you are interested in. This office usually contains useful texts as well as counselors that can help to start you on your quest for scholarships and financial aid. They are there specifically to help you, so it’s important to take advantage of that. Tell them a bit about yourself, you might be surprised at the number of interesting and different scholarships there are out there that want someone with specific interests/talents/achievements.
2. Internet Scholarship Search Sites
There are numerous web sites out there that will let you, for a small price, apply to all of the scholarships that you qualify for. After filling out a few forms and answering some common questions a list will appear and you can check off the ones you would like to apply for electronically.
For example, CollegeNets Mach 25 Search is a free version of the WintergreenOrchard House Scholarship Finder database. Although they don’t allow you to electronically file for applications it is still a great listing of over half a million unique scholarships and over $1 billion dollars is given to students annually.
3. Other Places You Can Try
– Bulletin board of the financial aid office – Admission office booklets and pamphlets – The athletic department and school team coaches – The library – High School Guidance Counselors
There are many people out there that would love to help you find financial aid, and it’s important to do your research. It may seem overwhelming at first, but there are many many scholarships out there and the sooner you start to plan and apply for them, the greater chance you’ll have of finding one that works for you. Don’t be shy. Ask around, take other people’s advice. If you find that you have too many scholarships to apply for, and it feels like you can’t do them all, simply start with the ones that sounds more specifically like you. The competition out there for scholarships is huge, so if you have a particular interest that is mentioned in the scholarship, try that one first (even if it’s not the biggest money amount). Also, try for small scholarships, you would be surprised how quickly they add up to a larger amount.

I don’t know if I should just Google "college scholarships," because I don’t know how legitimate all of the websites can be. Does anyone have any websites where I can apply for college scholarships? I’m a returning student. I will be a sophomore in September. Thanks in advance!
fastweb.com is a good site
Does anyone know any sites that allow middle school students to apply for college scholarships?

Unless you are planning to skip high school completely you really cannot apply for scholarships now. Scholarship, grant, and student loan application files are only held open for one year at the maximum. Having said that though, it is not too early for you to start learning about scholarships, grants, loans, etc. so you are well prepared for the application process as soon as it opens for your particular college freshman year!
Of course there are many ‘big name’ programs out there, but there are also many – very generous – grants and scholarships that go unclaimed every year because no one applied! You can start your learning process by going to FastWeb. They have a very good questionnaire format that can help you find many elusive/unknown programs.
Another place to inquire is your parent’s employer. Believe it or not many large companies, unions, etc. give scholarships to the children of their employees/members. Also look in your local community. Our community gives two scholarships per year to children living here. Often, fraternal organizations such as the Elks, Kiwanas, etc. give scholarships. While none of these may be very large – maybe only a few hundred dollars – if you win enough of them you could go to college for free. And by the way – even at Harvard, more than 90% of the students pay their way with scholarships, grants, loans, etc. So don’t let anyone discourage you and I applaud your initiative!
Good luck!
