what are scholarships for first generation college students? How much do you get?

Am I eligible if my dad came from another country?

is that what it means by first generation?

also, even though this doesn’t have anything to do w/ it..am I a first generation (nationality here) if he did come from another country, or would my mom have to be from that country too?

also, he got citizenship before i was born..

answer the first part at least please..?
ohh ok..i guess i was thinking of first generation americans when i heard that

True most of the time there are scholarships that use the words first-generation meaning their parents didn’t attend a 4yr university and they will be among the first in their generation to go.

But there are some scholarships for 1st generation Americans- they just dont use that terminology. I know when I registered on fastweb.com they had a few scholarships available for first and second generation Americans. It depends on the country your family is from and if they are underrepresented in college (like Latin Americans). Contact the specific school for more information.

What are some good websites for getting college scholarships?

I have tried Fastweb and scholarships.com… but I haven’t found many legit others… I plan to attend college in Texas.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi, I know of two legit sites:

http://www.studentscholarshipsearch.com

and

http://www.scholarshippoints.com

(this one actually gives scholarships away based on monthly drawings…the more points you enter, the more chances you have of winning each month, totally legit, and you don’t have to have good grades or write any essays etc.)

I need to find scholarships for college?

I graduated from High School last May and I will start college this year, but the only scholarships I can find on Fast Web are for High school students or College students and I am neither. Please help.

If you are going to college, then you are a college student.

Do your fasfa, see if you qualify for any state or federal aid such as pell or hope. Then talk to your financial aid office to what else is avaialble to you.
