The best way to find scholarships is to register for several FREE online search engines (don’t pay money for info that is freely available!)

Be very specific about filling out your personal information, because where you live, who your parents work for, or the clubs you’re in can influence which awards you’re eligible for. I reviewed my favorite scholarship searches over here:

I found that fastweb.com and freescholarshipguide.com to be fairly easy to manage.

1) You can tailor your profile to get scholarship notification for your career path or financial need.

2) You can receive notification on all the new scholarships posted.

3)Their notifications are sent out in plenty of time for you to respond and there links take you right to the login screen.

Take the PSAT/NMSQT your junior year. If you score well enough (about 215 for Michigan) you will have the opportunity to get a full-ride at many schools around the nation. Other than that, try fastweb.com.

I recommend looking at the college you want to attend. Most have a book or pamphlet of scholarships they offer. If you qualify, apply for them. Be sure to do this before the deadline . . . most deadlines are in February for the colleges I applied for. You are more likely to get a scholarship from the college you want to attend, where only some of the people going there will apply for, rather than a website where most of the nation applies for. Also, most scholarships require you to fill out the FAFSA first to see if you qualify for federal aid. You have to fill it out, even if you know your parents or you make too much money. I recommend doing all of this very soon . . . you don't want to miss the deadline!!!
